Poetry Recital
Over the past few weeks we have been busy practising reciting our poems aloud. We had a class poetry recital and we all did a fantastic job- Miss O'Brien was very proud!
Trisan and Sonya were selected as the finalists to enter the Middle School Poetry Competition. They both showed lots of courage to stand up and recite their poems in front of heaps of children, parents and teachers. The standard of all the finalists was very high, the judges had a really tough job deciding on the placings. Trisan was fortunate enough to win the year 3 competition- Congratulations!

Spring Tulips
Colourful tulips
dancing back and forth
Oval, bright colours

Rain Poems
With all the rain we have had lately we wrote rain poems with Mrs Craig. We had lots of fun thinking of creative ways to describe rain.
Rain
falling on the
bumpy roof
sliding on the
hard windows
splashing on the
green leaves,
relaxing nicely on
the path.
I slip on you.
I try to catch you
but you are too
fast.
In light you glow
like a star
so bright and
nice.
By Hao
Smooth rain
sliding down my
raincoat.
Raindrops racing
on the wet
concrete
soaking the whole
town.
Taking you
to freedom,
dropping on the
ground,
disappearing.
Helping you relax.
Helping the plants
become powerful.
By Jerry
Smooth little
raindrops
sliding down the
petals
of bright coloured
flowers.
Free raindrops
splashing
into ponds making
patterns of
circles.
Minature raindrops
making all kinds
of patterns
on my transparent
window.
Mysterious
raindrops
falling onto the
ground
and disappearing.

Once there was a girl named Sophie, she was short and had orange hair she was also quite a snoop. She liked to explore things. One night she was in the garden when there was a storm...Sophie ran to a part of the garden where it was sheltered and she is could see better, she needed to find out the cause of the stormy weather it was summer and there was usually no bad weather. She looked up and saw in the dim light of the moon a pale faced girl riding on a whitish rain cloud, so this was the cause!

My favourite part was when I went to the mist. I was surprised when the mist sprayed into my eyes. The swan plant was so, so gigantic. We used to have one in our classroom. After that we had lunch.

After we found a huge rock and did a worksheet, that was my favourite part too. I saw a tree with a koru in the middle. I liked looking everywhere the most, especially the cactus, it was spiky! In the herb garden, I liked eating the chives and the lime plant leaves smelt yummy.
